Want Updates on Bengaluru’s Power Cuts? BESCOM Mitra Will Provide That and More!

Folks in Bengaluru can now rejoice, for Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has launched a mobile application that gives updates on power outages and lets one file and track the status of complaints along with the provision of live tracking resolutions.

Launched by state Energy minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday, BESCOM Mitra is a tech initiative by the municipal agency in supplying information about BESCOM policies, offices and information on power cuts.

The app aims to reach out to domestic electricity consumers in the city and is being touted as the single point of contact for all consumer needs including online bill payment, billing details, complaint registration & consumption tracking.

“Customers can also register one or more accounts because there are different categories of customers like tenants/owners/companies and others. The app will also allow online payment of bills, consumer-specific services besides other facilities,” P Rajendra Cholan, who is the managing director of BESCOM, said at the app launch, reports The New Indian Express.

Keeping in tune with the latest technology, BESCOM is incorporating data analytics to study its consumer base and formulate strategies to solve prevalent and persistent issues in the city. The agency also plans to use the data to clinch corporate goals like demand-supply management and revenue enhancement.

According to the Energy minister, other ESCOMs across the state have been directed to launch similar applications for the citizens.
