15 Bengaluru Cops Come Together to Rescue a Dog Having a Very Bad Day Indeed

A dog in KSRP Line, Bengaluru, recently found itself in a very sticky situation. Perhaps while playing, or searching for water, it got its head stuck into a plastic pot or ‘matka’. If not for 15 noble policemen, the dog might have spent a lot of time stuck there.

Abhishek Goyal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, traffic (east, Bengaluru) who was a witness to this rescue, recently tweeted about the heart-warming gesture by the 15 policemen. His tweet unfolds the whole rescue operation in under 280 characters.

Just heard a lot of commotion in KSRP Reserve Line. Around 15 policemen were trying to rescue a stray dog ? who had managed to get his head stuck in a matka. First a cut was made to breathe. One of the policemen held the dog in one place to ensure that it did not get scared and run away. Then, a cut was made on the matka to allow air to flow inside, allowing the dog to breathe, preventing suffocation. A short while later, the matka was entirely sliced open by a saw.

Goyal captured this operation in pictures, which he later put up online.

This is not the first time that dogs have found their best friends in cops. Earlier this year, 75 dogs were rescued by the Assam police from getting smuggled to Nagaland for meat. Pune cops, in association with an animal welfare group, saved 56 cats caged in a filthy apartment with “four inches of cat faeces all over the floor”.

Police officers have also rescued animals from slaughter in various parts of India. In Bengaluru, 76 head of cattle were saved from being illegally transported to Kerala. The Hindu reports that they were subjected to cruelty and suffocating spaces. Cops have also rescued camels being illegally transported in Hyderabad.

Cops in India are doing a great job of rescuing animals. Whether it is illegal transportation, cruel conditions or accidents, they are upholding humanity and how!
