Delhi’s Pollution Got You Down? Head to This ‘Oxygen Chamber’ in Gurugram!

The pollution levels in Delhi/NCR are rising each day. Schools have been shut for the fourth consecutive day now, and there is a furious exchange of messages discussing the pollution levels in the city on various WhatsApp groups and Facebook, every morning. The discussion revolves around only one topic — the alarming level of air pollution in the city. While no one has a concrete solution, there is enough and more talk on what should and should not be done to bring the levels down.

If you are a resident of Gurugram, you will be aware that the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) Metro station is one of the busiest areas in the city. What you may not know is that an oxygen chamber, which is the brainchild of a company called Nurturing Green, is tucked away inside the metro station.

Sprawled over an area of 13,000 square feet, this oxygen chamber houses various air-purifying plants as well as air purifiers to battle pollution.

Gurugram’s first oxygen chamber

Nikhil Grover, Head of Marketing at Nurturing Green, says, “We encourage people to come and spend some time inside the oxygen chamber. They should think of this as a place where they can give your lungs some pure air. We have also kept some books and magazines inside the chamber and have ensured that the environment is truly relaxing and rejuvenating.”

Launched on September 29, 2017, the oxygen chamber has already seen many visitors. While the company has been in existence for over 8 years, their primary focus was on retailing indoor oxygen-enhancing plants until now. “The general perception is that if there is urbanisation there will be deforestation, cutting of trees and wiping away of green areas. We wish to change this misguided perception and are trying to cultivate and nurture green areas amidst all the development that is taking place.”

The place is divided into three sections — a nursery, a greenhouse for indoor plants, and an outdoor area – all free from pollution!

A view of the chamber

There is also an oxygen chamber that houses about 12 varieties of plants like the Areca palm and Peace lily. Visitors can walk into the chamber, breathe in the pure air and relax.

As of now, there are no charges being levied to enter the oxygen chamber. The store is open from 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. on all days.
