How This U.P. Village Got Rid of Loudspeakers and Brought Peace between Communities

In the recent past, so much has been said about loudspeakers being used during festivals and daily prayers. Various well-known personalities came forward to make their point about the use of loudspeakers. Some of them received flak, while others were trolled on social media platforms.

With all this noise in the background, a village in Uttar Pradesh just won our heart and here’s why.

In a rare show of communal amity, Hindus agreed to remove loudspeakers from temples and Muslims from mosques in a restive Moradabad village.

A right step forward

According to police officials, the village had seen a lot of communal tension over the past three years, thanks to the loudspeakers at houses of worship of both communities, reported India Times.

Triyadan village, under the jurisdiction of Bhagatapur police station, has had a history of communal violence over the years, and therefore this move mooted by some village elders comes as a relief.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Uday Shankar said leaders from both communities took the initiative, after a meeting in which the issue was discussed threadbare.

“Finally, they decided to do away with loudspeakers at the religious places,” reported Times of India.

With noise pollution, and simmering tensions, being a major problem in India, this move comes across as a step in the right direction. Here’s hoping that many other villages, towns, and cities are inspired to follow suit.
