The celebrations include military parades, sports competitions and various cultural performances. Other highlights are the special Durbar at the spectacularly lit Mysuru palace, attended by members of the royal family, officials and the masses, and the majestic Dasara procession known as the Jumbo Savari.

The event called ‘Open Jeep Tours’ is an initiative of the city-based entrepreneur and managing director of Safewheels, Prashanth BS, and will begin soon.

The SUVs or Maruti Gypsies tours will happen twice a day and last for two hours. They are not exclusive to Dasara, but will run throughout the year. Schedule tours can also be organised as per the group’s requirement. The tours will take visitors through heritage, architectural and other significant destinations.

Prashanth told BM, “This is a new city tour experience. Five Gypsy vehicles will be used for this, all of which will have GPS. This GPS will act as a tourist guide.

What’s amazing is that the tours will have a voice-enabled system that will act as an audio guide.

Tailored information will be given when the jeep reaches a road or any heritage building located on that road.
