Railway Protection officials in Bengaluru are on their guard at all times!
Thanks to three Bengaluru railway police personnel, a major railway mishap was successfully averted at the South Western Railways (SWR) division on Tuesday.
Railway Protection Special force officials – including head constable Thirumalesha, constables RS Sundo and Chandramani – were on their usual track patrol duty, to curb theft of passenger belongings.
It was 8.50 am when they spotted a rail cut near Bengaluru Cantonment Railway Station. Leaping into quick action, they rushed to inform the concerned officials.
“Immediately, Inspector of Railway Protection Force, Bengaluru Cantonment along with Senior Section Engineer, Permanent Way and Station Master of Bengaluru Cantonment rushed to the spot. In the meantime, the Marikuppam-Bengaluru City Passenger train (number – 56507) was stopped at Bengaluru Cantonment,” the SWR shared in a press note.
These officials prove – a stitch in time saves nine! Each of the officials will be awarded Rs. 5000 cash, announced the SWR.
