Give it a Shot! ISRO Announces An Amateur Rocket Competition For Bengaluru Students

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has an announcement for Bengaluru high schoolers, aged 12 to 16, with a knack for amateur rocket making!

As a part of ISRO’s Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF-24) in Bengaluru in November, the event involves a water rocket launching competition for students, the Times of India reported.

ISRO is providing an opportunity for students from city high schools to take part in a two round selection process, which will be conducted by the space agency.

Once they clear the tests, a group of students will be chosen to represent Bengaluru in the regional space forum.

The preliminary round in the two-tier selection process starts with a written test on space and astronomy

The second round will have water rocket making and launching competitions, where students, under the guidance of ISRO personnel, will make their own water rockets using a 2-litre soft drink PET bottles and some stationary provided by ISRO.

Based on the proximity of the landing spot to the target point, students will be selected to represent the Bengaluru in the regional water rocket competition, that is a part of the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum.
