As Mumbai Stumbles, Navy Helps The City Get Back on its Feet

Aside from deploying rescue teams, the Indian Navy has also opened community kitchens and food counters across the city to help stranded citizens.

They are operational in Byculla, Parel, CST, Worli, Tardeo, Mumbai Central, Dadar, Mankhurd, Chembur, Malad and Ghatkopar.

Yesterday, Mumbai was ravaged by one of the worst rains it had seen in more than ten years, killing five people and injuring many. Local train services were stalled because tracks were flooded, and resumed only at night when water levels receded.
