This Woman Is Capturing Mumbai in an Old Film Camera & the Results Will Make You Nostalgic

Remember the times when we posed for cameras that had limited shots and a click gone was a click truly gone?

Most of the younger generation, all too well-equipped with front cameras and selfie sticks, might never know what a film camera was or anything about a dark room where negatives magically transformed into the photographs that now lay a testimony to a simpler time.

Well, film is not dead and one young photographer from Mumbai is on a pursuit to reinstate that. A walk down the street or a trip to the beach, she never stops without capturing at least one shot on film.

Meant to be a souvenir, the film camera that Janaki currently uses was gifted by a relative several years ago. Tired of digital photography, things took a turn once Janaki ventured into the world of film and there has been no looking back ever since. Little did she know that she would end up going miles just to buy film roles and wait for weeks to see the results.

“The hard work, patience, thrill and excitement involved while shooting with film is unimaginable and can not be put into words. Keeping film alive is something I aim at and list as one of my long time goals”, Janaki says.

Currently training to be a pilot, the 22-year-old squeezes in every opportunity to shoot despite time constraints. While her training has got her going places for now, Janaki eventually plans on travelling around the world and of course, tagging her camera along!
