A Bengaluru Policeman Chose to Let an Ambulance Pass by Over the President’s Convoy!

How often does one see a policeman stopping the President’s convoy to let an ambulance pass through?

Traffic police Sub-Inspector ML Nijalingappa, chose humanity over hierarchy and set an example that all of us should learn from.

Posted at Trinity Circle, Nijalingappa discovered that amidst the traffic there was an ambulance that needed to head towards a private hospital near HAL.

Almost simultaneously, the convoy of President Pranab Mukherjee, who was in the city for the inauguration of Metro’s Green Line was heading towards the Raj Bhavan.

Stopping the country’s first citizen’s convoy, the Sub-Inspector deployed his colleagues to help the ambulance navigate through the traffic.

His timely action found huge appreciation both amidst the people in the city as well as amidst social media users. According to The Indian Express, the Bengaluru Police later announced a reward for the policeman for his impartial enactment of duty.

In fact, his act was lauded by the Commissioner of Police, Praveen Sood on Twitter.

Someone even posted a video of the entire incident:

A nation that still adheres to the Lal Batti and VIP culture, sub-inspector ML Nijalingappa’s dedication to his duty will re-instil our faith in the system.
