The BMTC plans on further expanding the provision to over 200 more AC buses that will include those taking the International Airport routes.
Great news for the bus commuters in Bengaluru!
Under a free trial kickstarted by Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), 10 AC buses equipped with Wi-Fi services have already set wheels on the roads of the city.
The BMTC further plans on expanding the same provision in over 200 more AC buses that will include those taking the International Airport routes.
Currently, a few buses on the Hebbal- Silk Board and Chikkabanavara-Majestic routes are already delivering these Internet services!

“The contractor started a trial run on ten buses and informed us that the service would be provided in remaining 190 AC buses in a phased manner. We have also floated tender to provide Wi-Fi services in 500 ordinary buses”, Ekroop Cuar, MD, BMTC, told Bangalore Mirror.
With a task-force of more than 600 AC buses and with most of the operational routes covering long distances and being time consuming, the inclusion of Wi-Fi facilities on the buses should come as a major relief for the passengers.

“There was a good passenger feedback during the trial run. The passengers could watch movies and see other entertainment programs. The service will be used by a number of people as it gets extended in another fleet”, a BMTC official said.
The city-based corporation also plans on providing facilities based on charter service, with particular focus on the IT corridor. Reportedly, the services will be inclusive of more comfortable seats, GPS-enabled tracking through mobile applications and internet facilities for entertainment and official work.
