Rajasthan Judge Says Peacock Is National Bird Because It Does Not Have Sex, Internet Explodes
High Court Judge Mahesh Chandra Sharma shared some insight about our national bird, the peacock, on Wednesday.
When the whole world was busy trying to decipher the meaning of the word “covfefe”, which was only known to a “small group of people” apart from the US president, India too had some rather colorful knowledge to bestow on everyone.
Rajasthan High Court Judge Mahesh Chandra Sharma, who spoke to CNN-News18 about his order that the cow be made our national animal, also shared some insights about India’s national bird, the peacock.
In his own words, Sharma said that peacocks are “aajeevan brahmachari” or lifelong celibate creatures. Hence, they do not mate with peahens. So, where do the chicks come from? Apparently, the peahen pecks on the tears of the peacock, which impregnates her. He also added that celibacy is the reason that Krishna adorned himself with its feather.

If Rajesh Khanna were alive they could have made him the ambassador of family planning in Rajasthan. He had told Pushpa he hated tears.

But most let their imagination fly to great heights, unlike a peacock:
What did the Peacock say to the Peahen?
Put kids to bed early, I feel like crying today.

Peacock:"sun raha hai na to, ro raha hu Mai"
Peahen:"plz Aaj mere sir me dard hai"— Super bhakt (@nasamajhchora) May 31, 2017
Thanks to Justice Sharma, I finally understand why the peacock, such a beautiful bird, makes such a hideous sound: it isn't getting any.
