Job: Kindergarten Teacher

Sunbird Trust

Peace Through Education.

Sunbird Trust is a NGO that operates in the conflict affected regions of North East India to promote peace and development through education. The trust currently supports schools and children’s homes in Manipur, Assam, Nagaland and Mizoram through student sponsorships, nutrition schemes, hostel constructions, and other infrastructural and need based support. Paangkriang Friendship School in the remote Ijeirong Village, Tamenglong District, Manipur is one of the schools that the trust supports. It caters to students from 14 neighbouring Naga villages. There are currently 351 students studying here, with 150 students staying in the school hostel. The trust envisions to develop this school into a self sustainable model school, and then further implement the same model into schools under its umbrella in the future. Further, we aim to provide an education that would help our children become well rounded human beings, rooted in love, respect, and compassion. It would be a holistic education model that caters to the Emotional, Intellectual, Physical and Expressive development of our children. It would be an education that is practical to the needs of the community. The Phase 1 towards this transformation would be implemented in the academic year starting February 2017.
