Bharat Abhyudaya Foundation (BAF) is a young and entrepreneurial organization founded by a group of exuberant young professionals coming from diverse fields who were committed to the cause of institutional reform in India’s education sector. BAF attempts to bring leading educationists, researchers, think tanks and concerned government officials on a single platform to not only drive better policies but also ensure their efficient delivery. Creation of effective implementation and monitoring mechanisms for policies such as the Section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act, promotion of Social Inclusion and building Social Accountability Systems around public schools have been major focus areas. Social Inclusion in Classrooms

The objective of this project is to enhance private schools’ capacities on inclusive pedagogical techniques for ensuring seamless integration of children from economically weaker section (EWS)/disadvantaged section (DG) in their schools. BAF intends to achieve the same by developing state-of-the-art guidebooks with guidelines on socially inclusive classroom for teachers and deploying an interactive e-learning course which will be developed post consultation with various organization within India and abroad to facilitate sharing of information and resources. BAF has already conducted Social Inclusion workshops with over 1000 private schools across 6 districts in the state collecting valuable inputs from a diverse sample. This is the first time such a mammoth effort is being undertaken by an Indian state  in the upcoming field of inclusion in education.

Position Summary

Social Inclusion closely follows the admission of underprivileged children under Mission RTE. BAF, Government of Uttar Pradesh and UNICEF came together to inculcate inclusive pedagogical techniques to ensure seamless integration of EWS children within classroom. The position involves coordinating with districts administration, private schools, partner NGOs and technology organization to design content and develop e-learning platform.  This e-learning platform will be deployed first in Uttar Pradesh followed by other states requiring every private school teacher to take the certification course at various levels. The Programme Manager will directly report to the Chairperson and closely coordinate with District Magistrates, District Education Officials, private schools, partner organizations and UNICEF.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Preparing a comprehensive guidebook on social inclusion in schools using 9 district workshops content and crowd sourced information on best inclusive practices by schools
  • Prepare a questionnaire for private schools and crowdsource inputs on existing inclusion practices
  • Content generation in collaboration with partner organizations in developing e-course modules on inclusion for teachers
  • Coordinate with technology partner in implementation of the e-learning module
  • Relationship management with government, UNICEF and partner NGOs
  • Conceptualize innovative ideas on social inclusion

Required Qualification, Skills and Abilities

  • Aptitude to work in an entrepreneurial organization with a strong sense of ownership and creating solutions for the country’s most pressing problems
  • Experience in Project Management and decent knowledge of education sector
  • Experience in pedagogy and writing trainer books for teachers and principals
  • Strong project management skills and leadership quality in ‘getting things done’
  • Willingness to learn, innovate and explore solutions
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required
  • Ability to build personal rapport with government officials at various levels
  • Track record of managerial responsibilities with high achievement
  • Data analysis and presentation skills with knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Excellent listening and communication skills with fluency in English and Hindi
