About Navarachana, Agastya Innovation Hub

Nava-rachana – meaning “ a new-creation”

Nava-rachana Innovation Hub at Agastya, Kuppam Campus provides space to promote exploration and learning in INNOVATION among economically underprivileged children of India, in its 172 Acre campus at Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, India with the joint initiative with National Council of Science Museums and National Innovation Council.
The ‘Hub’ designed as a creative space, enables students to learn the ‘ Art of Innovation”, by identifying challenges in their local environment, and devising ‘out of the box’ ideas and solutions. The Hubs is functioning as springboards for new ideas and innovation, and provide learning imbued with creativity and experimentation. All learnings involve the STEM approach, which integrates four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics into a cohesive learning paradigm, based on real-world applications.

The program fosters the germination and development of innovative and indigenous solutions to local problems among school children and teachers and develops an artistic, environmental and entrepreneurial focus among children through alternative yet well-established educational approaches that encourage learning and innovation. Navarachana, Agastya’s Innovation Hub, in addition to facilitating STEM based learning, will enable students the students to integrate learning from areas such as environment, art and entrepreneurship. Ambitiously, Navarachana targets at least 1000 students who will engage in over 200 custom designed student centric Innovation projects and programs per year. Both physical space and curriculum have been modeled to reflect a unique sensibility that supports overt and subliminal learning. Students are actively encouraged to touch, examine and play with models, display tools and scientific equipment to enable them to understand how scientific methods can be applied to everyday life.

Navarachana, in furthering Agastya’s and NCSM’s goal to provide a world class and futuristic education to underprivileged student communities provides exposure to cutting-edge research, interactions with researchers, innovators and pioneers who will inspire, educate and motivate change. Students are encouraged to connect with their surroundings and environment through a diverse range of approaches and explore interdisciplinary linkages that are alternative and unorthodox. At Navarachana, the student engages in an interactive and lifelong process of analyzing, questioning, and discussing; which helps them look for new approaches and unique applications of knowledge in all aspects of life.
Opportunity for volunteering is open for individuals interested in supporting innovations by underprivileged children. They will have to interact with children on the innovative ideas developed and support them in realizing innovative ideas into prototypes. The volunteers will have opportunities to learn Innovation pedagogies and use latest digital fabrication machines like 3D printer, laser cutting machines, etc.. in the Innovation Hub.

Engineering, diploma and science students are preferable.
