Remember the Nursery Rhyme “Chubby Cheeks, Dimple Chin”? This Powerful Ad Shatters It!

“Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.” ― Coco Chanel

If we go by this famous quote, it should be clear enough that the definition of beauty varies. Different features, different emotions, and different personalities define beauty for each one of us. But take a minute and go back to the time when you were learning nursery rhymes at school. “Curly hair, very fair, eyes are blue – lovely too…!” Rings a bell? Ever wondered why we grew up with just one picture of beauty – a “very” fair person with “rosy” lips?

This ad by Dove questions the well-known rhyme in a brilliant way. With strong women who are working hard to achieve their dreams, it portrays their amazing strength to fall down and pick themselves back up again; to keep moving forward towards their goals day in and day out. It tells that we have had enough of body shaming, enough of ridiculous beauty standards, and enough of glossy photoshopped pictures that are trying to carve the definition of beauty on stone.
