Indian Railways to have SMS based Alert Service for Cancelled Trains
Now passengers can get notified about cancellation of trains well in advance through a text message. Indian Railways will send the SMS on the number entered while booking the ticket.
Now passengers can get notification about cancellation of trains well in advance through a text message. Indian Railways will send the SMS on the number entered while booking the ticket.
Ministry of railways is once again ready with a new passenger-friendly service. In case any train gets cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances, SMS messages would be sent to the passengers who have booked tickets for it, informing them about such cancellation.
The text messages would be sent to numbers used while booking online tickets or entered while buying tickets from the counters.
The messages would be sent to those passengers who are boarding the train from the station of origin. In the next stages, the service will be extended to en-route stations as well.
To make it convenient for the passengers, the messages will be sent well in advance so that they can plan an alternative mode of travel.
The services started across the country on June 21st. The software for this service has been developed by Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) which is the Information Technological (IT) wing of the Indian Railways.
