Beating Over 10.7 Lakh Aspirants, This Haryana Boy Is the Topper of the JEE Advanced Exams

Sarvesh Mehtani from Panchkula has topped the IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2017 beating about 10.7 lakh candidates across the country, with the results declared on Sunday.

A Bhavan Vidyalaya School student, Sarvesh had secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 55 in the mains.

His dream of studying in one of the top engineering colleges in the country further motivated him to take up the exam.

Upon being asked about how he managed to keep himself calm and composed, “I watched cartoons on TV and listened to music. Reading novels and playing badminton also helped me stay calm and focused,” he told Financial Express.

With eyes all set on pursuing a course in computer science at IIT-Bombay, Sarvesh, while preparing for the exams, always wanted to make it into the top-10 list. Having scored 339 out of 366 in the JEE advanced examination, Sarvesh not just managed to break into the top-10, but also claimed the top position.

Upon being asked how he managed his time to achieve the feat, he said, “I studied for five hours besides my schooling and coaching hours. On a holiday, I studied for eight hours.”

Attributing parental support for being significant towards achieving anything in life, Sarvesh credits the support from his parents and teachers for his stupendous success.

While his proud father said, “Focus can make anyone achieve whatever they want to,” Sarvesh’s mother mentioned the day as being the “best one” in her life.
